Often raining England and Wales, also very windy south and east. Good morning, A core of low pressure will slowly cross eastward across the Irish Sea. This low will bring frequent, heavy showery rain across England and Wales. Some of these showery spells could bring a local flash of lightning to central England. Southern areas will also be very windy, the strongest wind across the south of England where may reach gale force along the coasts in the southwest. The east of England will also be very windy in the morning. Rain will be patchier in Ireland, north England, and Scotland, perhaps a few sunny spells but these local and probably brief. Highs of 13 or 14C many north areas, including Ireland, nearer 16C central England, to locally 18C in the far east. Most of the rain over England and Wales will ease overnight, just a few lingering drizzly patches towards west coasts as the west-southwesterly wind will remain in place - not as strong as during the day, but a breezy evenin g nonetheless. A broader area of rain will affect western Scotland, but this will pass northward in the later hours. Ireland becomes increasingly wet in the west as a front approaches, northwestern areas seeing the longest sustained falls in the later overnight hours. Lows reaching only 9 to 12C.
