during the day brings a band of persistent rain, some heavier bursts,
most prolonged over central-southeastern counties into the afternoon.
Rain breaking up in the west with skies brightening, sunny spells
develop, but a few brief showers possible. More generally showery
for Scotland and Ireland, some heavier showers into the afternoon,
chance of local thunder. Varied west-southwest winds. Highs 14 to
18C.
